Wreck Bay (also known as Boulder Bay) is located on the northeastern side approximately 2 hours walk from Rangitoto Wharf. This is where the vessels were abandoned and now lay scattered along the shoreline.

The baches are located in three separate communities: Islington Bay community, located at the northern most point of Islington Bay (used to be called Drunks Bay); Rangitoto Wharf community at Rangitoto Wharf where the ferry stops; and Beacon End at McKenzie Bay to the west of the island.
